WHITCHURCH LIBRARY HISTORY DAY

Whitchurch Library will be holding a History Day on Saturday November 16th from 10.00 a.m. to 2 p.m. This is an opportunity for local people to come along and talk to experts about three particular aspects of history.

The Whitchurch Local History Society will have representatives on hand to talk about, and answer questions on, the history of the area as well as displaying various pictures and documents from its archive.

Peter Insole from Bristol City Council will be presenting a practical demonstration of the historic mapping project Know Your Place West of England and also showing people how to use it themselves on the library’s computers. This is one of the most valuable historic history research tools to have emerged in recent years – and from its Bristol origins is now spreading throughout the West Country with interest also being shown throughout Britain.

Members of the Bristol & Avon Family History Society will be present to answer questions and giving advice about researching your ancestors and where they came from. A number of useful leaflets will be freely available for people to take with them.

Whitchurch Library is a few steps from the ASDA store.
