Villagers gathered to celebrate this historic occasion and raise a toast to Her Majesty. A delicious selection of sandwiches and savouries together with homemade cakes and scones was enjoyed by nearly 60 residents .
Councillors and volunteers along with representatives from the 107th Whitchurch Scouts, Cubs and Beavers served teas, coffees and food in a warm and friendly atmosphere with lots of laughter and memories shared.

A BIG THANK YOU to everyone who made the beacon lighting an amazing event. About 200 people raised a toast to Her Majesty as we joined others around the country celebrating 70 glorious years. The Deputy Lieutenant David Medlock attended and read the proclamation .

The Local Government Association is hosting a webinar from 10:00 –11:30am on 7 June for members of the public, specifically those with an interest in serving the community, on becoming a councillor. The event is aimed at the general public to help explain what councils and councillors do and to explore the steps involved in becoming a councillor, including what support is available.
Just a reminder that the National Beacon Lighting will be on Thursday 2nd June, please arrive at 9.15pm as events with start at 9.30pm with a piper and a toast to Her Majesty. Please join us at Whitchurch Village Playpark , Norton Lane , parking is limited so please walk if possible, bring a torch. For your information our neighbouring local authority , Bristol City Council, is introducing a Clean Air Zone to reduce harmful pollution from older and more polluting vehicles.

Following the unavoidable cancellation of the meetings to be held on Wednesday 6th April 2022 they have been rearranged for Thursday 21st April with the Annual Village Meeting at 7pm followed by the council meeting at 7.30pm
